HomeVance, Louise
Vance, Louise
Louise Vance is a Peabody Award-winning filmmaker who has created content-rich stories for television, video and the web for nearly three decades. After learning production at the NBC affiliate in Denver, she was one of the first journalists hired to start CNN in 1980, where she produced network talk shows and specials before joining TBS’s documentary unit. At TBS she wrote and directed national docs including her highly acclaimed film, “Iran: Behind the Veil.”
Moving to San Francisco and going freelance in 1988, Louise has created productions for clients including PBS, the Smithsonian Institution, NOW, the National Institute of Medicine, Discovery, UCSF, Apple and Levi’s®.
Recent projects have focused on social justice and community initiatives. Louise’s indie doc, “Seneca Falls,” a road trip with teenage girls discovering their history, aired on 115 PBS stations nationally in 2010. A featured speaker in community and university settings, she’s been a screener for Emmy Awards and a juror for the San Francisco International Film Festival. Louise holds a B.A. in English and trained to teach before slipping down the rabbit hole of television and video production.
