Why BAVC?

The Bay Area Video Coalition(BAVC) has been in the media and technology training business for nearly 35 years, and while the technology keeps changing, we maintain a high-rate of satisfaction among our students by:

  • Using up-to-date, industry-standard curriculum.
  • Keeping our classes small (limited to 10 and each student has their own workstation).
  • Hiring professional instructors to provide hands-on instruction.
  • Maintaining our computer labs with the latest hardware and software including Adobe CS5.

At BAVC, we provide training to a wide range of media professionals from companies like Apple, Cisco, Frog Design, Image Movers Digital, Lucas Film, Ltd., Ubisoft, Wells Fargo, and others.

Class Registration

You'll need to register online to enroll in a class:

  • Please create a BAVC website account. To do so, just click on "Register" on the top of the website. Fill out the registration form, and then confirm your email.
  • Once you find a scheduled section, choose that section and follow the registration form instructions.
  • We use Google Checkout for credit card processing, so you'll need to create a Google Checkout account if you don't already have one in order to enroll.
  • You will receive a confirmation email for your registration once you have been accepted into the class. This can take up to 24 hours, so please be patient.
  • ETP Students: Those students who are part of the CA State Employee Training Program (and who have their paperwork on file) should enroll online. You will not be charged for your class, but you must complete the "payment" process.
MY CLASSES

After you register for an event, your class schedule is kept in your user profile. To access your user profile, login to the BAVC site, click "My Account" in the Login/Registration Menu (at the top of the page just below the main top navigation) and then click the Orders tab. If any changes to class times or dates should occur, you will be notified via email.

Other Helpful Information

We strongly recommend signing up for classes as far in advance as possible. Many classes fill up fast, and a few get canceled if we don't see enough interest.

Note the Recommended Prerequisites:
Not sure if a class will be too advanced for you? You may be able to take a self-assessment exam. We have quizzes in Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML/CSS, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and Basic Mac Skills. Still not sure? Contact us at

Bring a layer:
A working post-production facility, BAVC's suites and labs are kept at arelatively low temperature to protect our electronic equipment. The climate is ideal for machines, but a little on the cool side for humans, so we recommend dressing warmly for class.

Special Needs?
Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact us ahead of time to ensure that any proposed training needs may be accommodated.

The Neighborhood:
Classes are taught at the BAVC facility (2727 Mariposa St., 2nd floor), unless otherwise specified in the class description.

Street parking can be difficult in this neighborhood during the week, so, we recommend public transportation, or, if you drive, be prepared to spend a few extra minutes finding a spot. Weekends and evenings are a breeze.

PLEASE NOTE: Classes are subject to change without notice. For the latest policy on cancellations, refunds, and enrollments, please check out our cancellation policy >
