BUMP Records

Last Thursday at SFMOMA, BUMP Records performed in response to the opening of Mark Bradford's mid-career retrospective and new album Pinocchio Is On Fire. Simultaneously broadcast live on SF Commons, BUMP artists Kovu/SHAD (Abbas Khalid), Teka Miranda, Moria Moore and Queen Shabazz performed a thoughtful, impressive set of songs to a packed crowd in the SFMOMA atrium.

BUMP Records is proud to present the new compilation album, History in These Streets. BUMP recording artists and filmmakers from its sibling program, The Factory, had an opportunity to take the Black Panther Legacy Tour with David Hilliard. It was during this tour that both programs were inspired to create new films and music.

Welcome to another addition of 10 Questions! This week, we highlight SHAD. Recently completing his first year at BUMP Records, SHAD is featured on the Summer Reign Vol. 2 compilation, Taking Control (by Teka), as well as his own album, Shine Harder After Death. Whether he's rhyming or producing music for himself and others, he's definitely becoming a name to look out for. Get to know him better through 10 questions!

Welcome to  a new segment with BUMP: 10 Questions. We send 10 questions to a BUMP Records artist or producer, they answer them and you get to know them better! To start the series off, let's introduce Moria Moore. If you don't know she's a poet, actress, emcee and vocalist! You may have heard her music featured on our Bandcamp site OR you may have been one of the lucky individuals to see her perform live in the Bay Area. If you haven't heard of her, she's a rising young talent in the Bay with an EP album release under her belt.

Taking Control by Teka is an album sure to please hip-hop fans. A very personal project, Taking Control describes his transition from being in the streets to choosing to pursue an education. Fans of lyricism will appreciate "Live to Regret", while fans of stories will love "Adrenaline".

July is already here. Quite a fast Summer Break, isn't it? Don't worry, though, BUMP Records will supply you with soundtrack for the season. Join us as we bring you the 2nd edition of our 2011 Summer Concert Series.

Gouda Black and Princess Mimi will be releasing their debut albums. Joining us will be guest performers, Spotlightz (Beats Rhymes & Life) and Ce Ce (BASE Academy).

The place? Eastside Arts Alliance (2727 International Blvd. Oakland, CA 94606).

Doors open at 7pm. Show starts at 8pm.
