San Francisco, CA— Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) is pleased to announce the 2012 Producers Institute for New Media Technologies and call for entries. Through a competitive application process, BAVC will engage a panel to select at least six of the world’s most promising social issue documentary projects to participate in a week-long new media and social impact laboratory in San Francisco, October 13-19, 2012.

San Francisco, CA— Mayor Edwin M. Lee and the City of San Francisco announced at a press conference Thursday, March 8th, the launch of TechSF, an initiative supported by a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor for a workforce training program aimed specifically at the IT sector. Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) is among several partners, including City College of San Francisco, BAYCAT, YearUp and WestEd, that will work closely with the San Francisco City Office of Economic & Workforce Development (OEWD) to help build San Francisco’s tech sector to meet employers’ increasing demand for workers with high-tech skills.
